Even though I’ve had gastric sleeve surgery and can’t eat much, I still left the table feeling hungry. I think they could improve their presentation and cooking techniques. I don’t believe the meal we had was worth $200. I’m not complaining about high prices, but I do think that at this level, they should offer more value and a better overall experience. The ingredients are fresh, but in Austin you can find similar quality and flavors for around $40. As a chef, based on my experience, this place doesn’t deliver a $200-level dining experience.

Sushi by Scratch is, without exaggeration, one of the most exceptional dining experiences I’ve had in Austin. From the moment you walk in, the attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the experience. The execution is precise, the pacing is thoughtful, and the craftsmanship behind each course is remarkable. Every bite delivered incredible depth of flavor, balance, and creativity without ever feeling overdone. The quality of the fish, the texture, the temperature, the subtle seasoning, everything was impeccable. This is not just dinner, it’s a carefully curated culinary experience. Truly outstanding.

We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday and everything from entering the restaurant to our final farewell was phenomenal. The service was top notch. They are only open for dinner and only by reservation. They do three seatings per night and each seating maxes out at 10 people, making for an exceptionally intimate experience. Everything that was served to us was of the highest quality. Although you are being served one bite at a time, the way the chefs pack so much flavor into each bite with the freshest and most concentrated ingredients is amazing. Our main chef was Evan and our drink guru was Joe. We opted for the sake pairing and Joe was highly knowledgeable on each of the sakes and why it complemented our plates. Evan was quick and dexterous and worked with both sushi chefs unanimously, almost like the three of them were using one singular brain. It was truly an exceptional evening and I finally managed to impress my husband with a dinner reservation. Thanks so much to all of you guys for an unforgettable experience!

We went for my sister's birthday, and it was a fantastic experience. The pre dinner canapes came with a drink and 3 small bites, that were delicious and a fun start to dinner. The actual omakase was very much focused on just the sushi, all 16 courses were just nigiri, but all the pieces were very good. They also give you the option to get any pieces again ala carte at the end.

Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday, and it did not disappoint! Everything was exquisite, flavorful, and divine. Loved the concept of fresh, made from scratch sushi, all while diving into the background of each ingredient and how it was intentionally woven together. It was definitely an experience I hope to have again and again!
